Teach and work on the blockchain landscape – CHAISE workshop & exhibition event

Digital LSP Matchmaking event – Funding Opportunities for Strategic Digital Skills Development

As part of the Digital Large-Scale Partnership under the Pact for Skills CHAISE is contributing to the organisation of a matchmaking event on “Funding Opportunities for Strategic Digital Skills Development”, which will take place online on 18 July at 15:00 CEST.
The event is a joint initiative of the Digital Large-Scale Partnership and its member Skills Alliances (ARISA – Artificial Intelligence Skills Alliance, CHAISE – Blockchain Skills for Europe Alliance and REWIRE – Cybersecurity Skills Alliance) and will bring together research and innovation stakeholders to explore collaborative ventures for developing educational programmes in key digital sectors.
The event will focus on the opportunities offered by two open calls for proposals under the Horizon Europe and Digital Europe programmes:
- HORIZON-EIE-2024-CONNECT-02-01: Expanding Academia-Enterprise Collaborations. Learn more about the call for proposals from a recorded information session hier.
- DIGITAL-2024-ADVANCED-DIGITAL-07-KEYCAPACITY: Specialised Education Programmes in Key Capacity Areas. Learn more about the call for proposal during an information day on the 5 July. Details hier.
The event will start with a plenary session dedicated to the presentation of the calls for proposals, followed by a matchmaking session. During the matchmaking, participants will have the chance to engage in one-on-one meetings, pitch their project ideas, receive feedback, and explore potential collaborations for consortium building.
The event is addressed to higher education institutions, vocational schools, public authorities in education and employment, innovation agencies, research organisations, businesses, and other actors in the innovation ecosystem. These actors should be able to contribute to education programmes focused on advanced digital skills for developers and users of advanced digital technologies. Areas of interest include artificial intelligence, data analytics, virtual worlds, photonics, quantum, cloud and edge computing, robotics, automatization, and more.
CHAISE: Education and Skills for a Decentralized Digital Ecosystem

The CHAISE consortium, in partnership with the International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications (INATBA), is hosting a collaborative roundtable discussion about the future of blockchain education. The event is organised as part of Blockchain Horizons: INATBA’s Academic and R&D Forum, and marks the culmination of the 4-year EU-funded project, CHAISE: Blockchain Skills for Europe.
During the event, attendees will gain insights into the CHAISE project outcomes, main deliverables, and upcoming steps. Additionally, discussions will address the needs of various markets, highlighting the project’s significance for EU countries, the skills market, and the future landscape of emerging technologies.
The collaborative format aims to gather insights that will shape the development of national curricula, educational strategies, and training plans related to blockchain and emerging technologies. By enhancing knowledge transfer from business to academia and creating a decentralised blockchain training and marketplace platform, the ultimate goal is to make blockchain accessible to all.
Participants will be able to engage in dynamic roundtable discussions, contributing to the advancement of digital skills, competencies, and empowerment in the digital economy.
CHAISE at the 4th Edition of the Austrian Blockchain Conference – Vienna Blockchain Week 2024

On 18 June 2024, CHAISE will be at the 4th Edition of the Austrian Blockchain Conference in Vienna, Austria. Organized by ABC Research, this conference is a key event of Vienna Blockchain Week 2024, bringing together the global blockchain community.
At the conference, Jana Fashchinger-Sanborn, from CHAISE partner ECQA, will be speaking in the ‘Deep Tech Panel’ from 15:45 to 16:30. The panel will explore the core technological innovations and the potential to redefine the economy.
During the panel, attendees will gain insights into the CHAISE project, particularly the CHAISE Blockchain Skills online course and emerging jobs related to blockchain. Specifically, they will learn about the course’s specialisation pathways, examination procedures, and certification process.
The Austrian Blockchain Conference will focus on the future of Blockchain Technology, uncover cutting-edge developments in blockchain, and explore synergies with other technologies. The conference will cover the following topics:

CAiSE. The 36th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering
Limassol, 7 June, 2024
On 7 June 2024, CHAISE representatives will present the CHAISE paper ‘CHAISE: A Blueprint for Sectoral Cooperation on Blockchain Skill Development’ at the 36th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE) in Limassol, Cyprus.
This prestigious conference, hosted by Communications of the Association for Information Systems, has been held annually in various European countries since its inception in 1989. It attracts over 300 paper submissions from more than 30 countries each year, and the proceedings are published in the LNCS Series by Springer.
The CHAISE paper, Een blauwdruk voor sectorale samenwerking op het gebied van de ontwikkeling van blockchain-vaardigheden, has been selected and will be presented at the conference. The paper outlines the CHAISE project’s objectives and outputs. It showcases the results obtained in the first three years of implementation and details how CHAISE can benefit research in information systems.
During the event, attendees will gain an in-depth understanding of the project, including the CHAISE Blockchain Skills online course, the consortium plan for the project’s long-term sustainability, and the implications for blockchain skill development.
Throughout the event, attendees are encouraged to ask questions, engage in discussions, and learn more about the CHAISE project.
BalkanCOM. The 7th International Balkan Conference on Communications and Networking
Ljubljana, 3-6 June, 2024
From 3 to 6 June 2024, the BalkanCOM Conference will be hosted at the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI), in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The aim of this conference is to bring together a variety of researchers to address challenges in the Communications and Networking sector. This edition will focus on promoting the free flow of knowledge and technology in the Balkans and between neighboring nations, in line with the concept of “Balkans without the borders”.
During this event, a CHAISE special session organised by CHAISE partners Universite Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and the University of Ljubljana will take place. CHAISE session “Future of Decentralized Systems, European Partnership” will focus on the connection of emerging AI approaches into the Blockchain system and provides a possibility to present the recent research and educational activities to create Future European Partnerships in this field. Moreover, interested participants will also have the opportunity to become CHAISE Associated partners and joining its Alliance.
For this session a call for papers submission on the main topics related to Blockchain has been launched. The deadline to submit it is April 5, 2024.

The INATBA Academic Advisory Board is proud to announce the 1st edition of Blockchain Horizons, INATBA’s academic and R&D forum, bringing you a full day of visionary conversations about the future impact of blockchain technology.
The event will explore blockchain’s potential across various sectors, including information technology, health, transport, finance, education, governments, and democracy, with a strong focus on research and academic activities.
The forum aims to bring together global experts to present and discuss the latest research in the DLT space and put forward an actionable strategy and recommendations for advancing sustainable global adoption and the real-world impact of DLT in various sectors.
At the same time, the purpose is to encourage collaboration between researchers and businesses to realise the applicability of the latest research in the real world.
EBSI Ecosystem Day – W3bsi, trust reimagined

On 7 May 2024, CHAISE partner INATBA – International Association for Trusted Blockchain Application will present the CHAISE project at the ‘EBSI Ecosystem Day—W3bsi, trust reimagined,’ hosted at SPARKS in Brussels. The event, focused on advanced digital verification technologies, will bring together Web3 leaders for discussions on the future of trust.
The EBSI Ecosystem Day will reflect on the achievements and the future of EBSI, feature insightful presentations, and host interactive workshops. Participants will have the opportunity to tailor their agenda by selecting from 10 breakout sessions organised around five key themes:
- Theme 1: Building a resilient and secure network.
- Theme 2: Towards a whole new mobility for citizens across Europe.
- Theme 3: Ensuring authenticity of products and transparency in the supply chain.
- Theme 4: Unlocking business opportunities for European companies.
- Theme 5: Synergies with other European initiatives.
INATBA will present the CHAISE project from 15:00 to 15:20, detailing how it addresses blockchain skill shortages and the current and future skill needs of the European Blockchain workforce.

CHAISE Austrian Partner ECQA GmbH together with DLT Austria, the Austrian Association for the Sustainable Promotion of Distributed-Ledger-Technologies, is hosting an educational evening event to delve into emerging job roles related to blockchain.’
With the increasing adoption of blockchain technology across various sectors, there is a crucial need for skilled professionals, who can understand and utilize this technology effectively.
To address the growing need for blockchain experts in Europe, CHAISE, the Alliance for Blockchain Skills, has created an online course, accessible on the Thinkific MOOC platform, aimed at tackling the mismatches in Blockchain Skills and training specialized professional profiles, identified in the Blockchain skills needs and demand analysis conducted by CHAISE.
The event will offer participants the opportunity to learn about the CHAISE project and explore its MOOC course. Specifically, they will discover the course’s specialization paths and examination procedures.
An interactive Q&A session, alongside food and drinks, is scheduled to encourage discussions that aim to deepen comprehension and stimulate collaboration among participants.
Blockchain and European public transformation identity, diploma, open badges, research and other use cases in the public sector

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, the University of Lille is organizing a bilingual international conference at the Lilliard Learning Center. The objective of this conference is to grant a global, informed and independent view of Blockchain technology through showcasing its development in the areas of higher education and research.
Through the realization of workshops, French and European universities will discover how the University of Lille has contributed in the way Universities issue, in the use of an eWallet by students and in the verification of digital certificates of achievement by employers. These developments demonstrate the emergence of a sovereign European digital heritage of great utility for young people, various institutions and mobility.
During this day, participants will also have the opportunity to learn about the work of the CHAISE project, which aims to identify the skills needed by computer scientists working in Blockchain technologies, and an overview of the open educational resources enabling institutions to update their training offerings. In addition, IT and legal research will be highlighted and attendees will be able to learn first-hand about case studies of applications in the public sector.
Digital-LSP stakeholder and matchmaking event

On 25th January 2024, the European DIGITAL SME Alliance, CHAISE partner and Co-coordinator of the Digital Large-Scale Partnership (Digital-LSP), is organising a stakeholder and matchmaking event as official launch of the Digital-LSP. The event is dedicated to current and potential members of the Digital LSP and will offer a detailed overview of how the Digital LSP works and how members can contribute and benefit from its activities.
The Digital LSP is an initiative stemming from the Pact for Skills and aiming to bring together stakeholders from different type of organizations to build-up partnerships and collaborations, fostering the uptake of digital skills in all industrial ecosystem and strengthening the provision of advanced skills for ICT professionals.
During the event the participants will acquire a comprehensive overview of the Digital LSP’s mission, objectives and its ambitious work plan for 2024. Following this, the experience of some of the Blue Print Projects, including the CHAISE project, will be presented. Attendees will also have the possibility to gain insight into the Blue Print Projects’ upcoming activities aimed at creating synergies with the work of digital LSP and other partners.

IMCL – International Conference on Interactive Mobile Communication, Technologies and Learning

During the IMCL -International Conference on Interactive Mobile Communication, Technologies and Learning held in Thessaloniki, between 9-10/11/2023, a paper on the CHAISE Blockchain skills digital course was presented by Mr Dimitris Kiriakos, from YPAITHA / DIEK Aigaleo, entitled: “CHAISE: Empowering Europe with Blockchain Skills through a Multilingual Mobile-Enabled MOOC Platform” by Dimitrios Kiriakos, from the University of West Attica, Dimitrios Kotsifakos, from University of Piraeus, Parisa Ghodous, from University of Lyon I and Yannis Psaromiligkos, from the University of West Attica.
The paper focuses on the European Sector Skills Alliance program, CHAISE (A Blueprint for Sectoral Cooperation on Blockchain Skills Development), designed to meet the increasing demand for Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) skills in Europe. The program aims to develop an innovative 5-semester Blockchain Vocational Education and Training (VET) program in eleven EU languages, addressing both technical and non-technical skill requirements. One of the key aspects of CHAISE is the creation of a comprehensive Blockchain training program that caters to diverse skill needs, including technical, non-technical, and cross-disciplinary competencies. This paper highlights the unique approach of CHAISE, which integrates a mobile-enabled Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform, ensuring accessibility and convenience for learners. The MOOC platform developed as part of CHAISE facilitates mobile learning, enabling students to access educational resources and participate in learning activities using their mobile devices. The research explores the design and implementation of the mobile-enabled CHAISE MOOC platform, analysing its features and functionalities that support mobile learning. The platform offers interactive modules, quizzes, practical exercises, and collaboration tools optimized for mobile devices. This ensures a seamless and engaging learning experience for students, fostering active participation and knowledge retention.

SEEDA-CECNSM 2023: 8th South-East Europe Design Automation, Computer Engineering, Computer Networks and Social Media Conference

The 8th South-East Europe Design Automation, Computer Engineering, Computer Networks and Social Media Conference (SEEDA-CECNSM 2023), in its 8th year, provided an insight into the unique world of technology, stemming from the interaction between the fields of computer engineering, networks and design automation (DA).
SEEDA-CECNSM 2023 provided an international technical forum for experts from the engineering industry and academia to exchange ideas, and innovations, and present the results of ongoing research in the most state-of-the-art areas.
This year, the special focus was on the challenging issues related to all the opportunities of computer engineering, networks and design automation in the era of the integration of Machine Learning Techniques, the Internet of Things, Cloud Computing and Cyber-Physical Systems.
The CHAISE Blockchain Skills digital course available on the Thinkific MOOC platform was presented at the conference.
